Ari Gold - biking to Australia
So on Monday, March, 22, 2010 I got a call from a Friend of mine at like 9pm at night asking where I was, and what I was doing. my response to him "well I'm at home and thinking of going to bed, why?" My friend then said "I got a surprise for you, there is a guy here, who is cycling around the world can you get to Ada tonight?" So at 9pm at night I get dressed and drive to Ada and Meet a older man by the Name of Ari Gold from Las Vegas Nevada.
Ari is on a Journey ... he is riding his bike from Las Vegas, Nevada to AUSTRALIA!!!! Ari left left Las Vegas on September 1. 2009 and arrived in the small Oklahoma Town of Ada, Oklahoma on the Evening of March 22, 2010 a little over 6 months after departing. Before people start jumping to conclusions ... Ari is not on a mission, a quest or a ministry. He simply wants to see the world, and he doesn’t have an extensive travel budget. After I first met him on Monday night I only Simply asked him "Why Ari"? and he kinda laughed and said "why not? I'm unemployed, divorced, and was contemplating life and direction, so he eventually arrived at the idea for the tour. Also at one point during talking on the First night he said that when people talk about it they say "man thats a dream for me to only do that" and he responses "yes and I am living that dream"
So on Tuesday I go back to Ada, and we hang out at the Apex Bicycle Shop in Ada for most of the day, in between interviews and such we all got to chat a lot, another cool thing that during the day we had another cyclist walk into the shop that in on a trek of his own that started out in Enid, Oklahoma ... Anyway on Tuesday night a few of the Cyclist went on a social ride with Ari, which was a honor for me to say I rode a few miles with this Man on a small leg of his World-wide Journey.
He was hoping to get to Australia within 5 years, but it took him 6 months just to get 1/4 the way across the U.S. so now he just hopes to get there before he dies. His story is amazing.
